SSET Inspection
Side scanning evaluation technology
The SSET provides the frontal image that CCTV provides, but it also provides a 360 degree scanned visual image of the interior surface of the pipe wall.
The data can then be subsequently analyzed in the office with the assurance that no important defect is overlooked. The system also records inclination, thus providing sag locations and potential locations for sedimentation buildup. The 360-degree scan enables the entire surface of the pipe wall to be observed in plan view, giving the engineer the capability to measure the opening of the joint.
Key Benefits:
- Allows Engineer to evaluate condition, not the camera operator
- Faster analysis of data by decision maker
- Reproducible with overlay capability from one year to the next allows for comparison of condition
Capabilities
- Use in pipelines from 8" to 36" internal diameter
- Software allows for front and side views simultaneously
- Field operator does not need to stop and pan
More Details
SSET inspection is an advanced inspection method used to determine
the exact nature of defects in pipelines. The method uses two digital
image capture devices to capture a forward view and a separate perpendicular
view of the pipeline. The SSET system uses a constant speed of travel
through a pipeline and does not require the stopping and starting necessary
to observe defects of traditional CCTV systems. Travel speed is typically
about 13 feet per minute.
The advantages of the SSET system when compared to CCTV are:
- The SSET provides superior ability for a higher quality repeatable analysis of a mainline pipelines
- It can provide measurement of crack width and length for quantifying defects
- It provides an overlay capability that allows for precision historical comparisons when determining if a structural defect is continuing to deteriorate or stable
- It provides two camera views, one forward view and one perpendicular view
- The perpendicular view is presented from a circular capture that has been laid out flat, much as a projection of a globe of the earth is portrayed on flat maps
- The software allows for rapid and detailed review by professional engineers without the potential that the camera operator failed to stop to observe something as per a CCTV inspection
- Subsequent engineer review and quality control review time is typically 1/6th that of CCTV
- Hydromax USA’s team has more experience with the SSET technology than in any other company in the America.
Hydromax USA’s use of multiple advanced technologies allow for the correct tool to be selected to provide the best and most economical solution without bias.
Accuracy of the inclination readings often drive the client to specify the use of SSET equipment. Standard inclinometers in CCTV are negatively affected by the start-stop movement for pan & tilt operations. Did you know that the SSET system's output can reduce the viewing time to 1/6 that of CCTV. And it eliminates viewing videos, tapes or DVD's completely. How about that for saving your eyes.
